Chris, I don't know. I saw this site that might be able to calculate the best freight quote and you would know that is the cheapest rate available which means the average is some what higher.

The may show you various quotes from different carriers. Don't know for sure I never used it, but it's free. http://www.freightquote.com/

truckers are not shown the freight bill. what we are allowed to see is what the broker is willing to pay us for doing the work. when a person sells or buys a house that person knows the price of the house and the percentage the broker is charging for their services, a percentage of the selling price, usually 6% to 10%. when we pull a load through a broker we don't know what the house sells for, just what the broker tells us. there is no transparency. why are we told by the broker that back hauls pay less when they cost as much as an outbound load, and the broker charges the shipper the going rate for shipping freight. when will we the truckers who supply america eliminate these brokers?????
