Want to drive trucks again no recent experience, what should be my first step?

by Leon
(Fresno)

I have a little over 2 and half years of driving experience. The problem is that it is not recent experience. I have not been in a rig since October of 2007.

I decided to go to school. I am currently employed at a junior college. I am bored out of my mind working in an office. I miss the road and want to get back on the road.

My question is what should be my first step?

Thanks for the advice.

Getting a Truck Driving Job after taking a break from driving
by: The Crazy Trucker

You didn't say how long you were away. If it was less than 6 months it's nothing just start calling trucking companies.

If it was over a year, you will have less doors open. Since you only drove two years prior of a break of over a year, you may have to go take a refresher course.

Some trucking companies offer refresher courses

Averitt Express
Western Express
Roehl
