Thank God For Modern Technology!

I am new at this as my husband just became an OTR trucker. I have been in this site looking over stories from other wives & some have been positive & some have been negative!

Each & every day we talk via cell phone & when he is not driving are able to do either Face Time or Skype!

Wives on here that complain about their husbands should consider that since these guys are away for long periods of time should realize that something could happen to one of you's & when he does walk out that door to get on the truck, that could be the last time you each see or hear one another!

No one has a perfect marriage but I am glad that I have a loving husband & modern technology keeps us close!

So ladies before you start that argument with him while he is on the road, you will regret it if anything should happen to him!

Just because your marriage ended in divorce due to his trucking, not all truck drivers are the same! Mine was a trucker before we married! You claim you begged him not to do it but instead he did it anyway! Maybe your marriage was falling apart before he took up trucking! And you mention trucking should be for single people. There are a lot of jobs out there that should be for single people like polices takeouts, etc. A friend of mine has a husband that is an undercover cop who doses takeouts & his partner is a woman & is my friend worried or concerned about the situation - NO she is not! Both my friend & I have strong marriages!

You may call this negative. You may think me uncaring. Or you might just let reality set in. My husband is OTR. 14 years ago he came home and told me he had to truck so we could survive. I flat out opposed it. He had a decent job and I did too. We weren't getting rid of the bills fast enough to suit him. I didn't want to raise our son alone. It got to the point where I begged. I raised our son alone.

I waited and worried every time he walked out the door and climbed into the truck. I made sure the goodbyes were uplifting and tearless. I was like you. It may have always been our last goodbye. So many goodbyes. So many missed family events. So many missed school functions. I was told by others of his sacrifice and how wrong it would be to resent him. Stand by your man and be everything to him when he gets home. I gradually wore down.

His trucking kicked my ass. Online porn discoveries. Strange phone calls. A worn out tired husband during home time. We used to be so close. I feel that over the road trucking is for single people. And yes I know that marriages can go bad with other occupations. But it was a choice he made after we were married 10 years. We were divorced after our son was out of school. All grown up. He holds no resentment for his father not being there. I made sure of that.

Now we are back together after 2 yrs apart. I obtained my cdl and kicked the ass that kicked mine. I figured I would see his side of things. I drive team with him once in a while. It's still not for me though. But I gave it a chance. I don't make sure the goodbyes are uplifting anymore. I don't care. He gets the real me now. Reality. No home fires are burning unless he's there to help spark it. He pays more attention to our relationship these days and makes the effort not to be tired. I'm not cold toward him because I learned I can't control other people's actions. So we get along. Everyone has a story lady so don't put down the ones who are negative. They are trying to get through tough times and I'm sure they have tried hard to make it work. Good luck to you.
