Psychiatric

What psychiatric medications are allowed, if any? Will a trucking company still hire me if I'm taking a antidepressant, mood balancer, and a benzo? The medications I'm taking are Zoloft, Abilify, and Klonopin(Klonopin is a benzo).

Matthew takes meds.

Hey Matthew, as Hervy said, it's up to the company, but if I was an owner, I would be concerned about hiring someone that might stop taking their meds. About 8 or 10 years ago, Dick Simon trucking out of Salt Lake City hired a driver that had been in an institution for 2 years and was on meds. He had been with a trainer about 3 weeks and the trainer told management not to hire him, but they did anyway.

You may have heard about this. He worked about a week solo and then drove his truck right up the front steps of the state capital in Sacramento, Ca and needless to say, died, and burned up truck and trailer and did big time damage to the capital. It was shortly afterwords Dick Simon trucking got bought out by Swift Transportation and changed names to Central Refrigerated.
