Not sure if I should go to trucking school or let a company train me?

Thinking of a career change at 59. I have always been interested in trucking. Should I go to a trucking school or sign on with a company to get training.

Dennis since you on the older end of the spectrum, I might agree with what Tony said.

Just make sure that they specifically state, in writing that you are hired to drive after training.
You don't want to finish training and they then say well you owe us for this training but we can't put you on the road.

Call around to a bunch of companies and get some feedback on whether they would hire you or not. If you get a lot of positive responses and one you research and like will guarantee you a job, I would choose to be trained at a private trucking school. Better yet a community college.

Oh, and make sure you check with your network of friends and family to see if someone they know is in the position to hire a truck driver.
