N.I.T. Palmer, Alaska

Instructors can be lazy. Often observing you or even testing you (without your knowledge) from the break room window while sipping coffee.

Mixed information from different instructors. One will say that is perfect, while the other will tell you never to do that? One instructor was even talking to his wife on his cell phone while giving predriving instruction, causing the student to almost miss a turn and stalling the truck because of it.

One appears hard of hearing, so during the walk around testing, marked off student for things that had been inspected? Failing the student?

One instructor barks orders instead of teaching.
The plus side, is they are informative about what trucking companies are good to work for. A few instructors appear more patience than others. If you are lucky you will get one.

Great Program
by: Anonymous

Not sure if it's the same school but out of ten students 9 passed the first time and the 10th a week later!!

Instructors all had different teaching skills but very informative. If you haven't had much experience great school if you have all the bad habits of power shifting and cutting corners you will learn the right way or fail.

throw you hard earned money away with thus outfit
by: Anonymous

Company wants money. you will fail, and they make more money. EVERYONE fails so they make more money. what is the rush to pass a person. if you fail, they make money. This is state approved. never again, ppl need to complain to bbb and gov office. this is a scam.

great course highly recomended
by: michael

i took this courseback in 2008...
i was part of a class that had all class time in kenai alaska..along with other students recently laid off from a plant called agrium in north kenai.

i would highly recomend their course..
yes they were strict...and needed you to take them seriously....but who wouldnt be given the seriousness of the course and nature of the future jobs to be utilized....yes a few of them cussed...and a few may have gone inside the break shack to warm up..but the majority of you were in a toasty sleeper hopfully learning from others driving and shifting mistakes....thats how our crew learned the best...remember no 2 drivers shift exactly the same...so be sure to adapt to each instructors liking..also NO gripping about the lack of hearing during a walk around inspection...it is the students responcibility to speak CLEARLY and LOUDLY enough so that the examiner can hear you YELLING if need beto paSS THE COURSE. As a trucker i can tell you, thick skin is needed if your gonna make it in this industry...so cowboy up, and welcome to the world of truckin'
Thanks NIT your the best
sincerly,
Mike

Not Professional
by: Anonymous

After paying out of pocket for the 2 week class and it was not paid by a company, the student failed 2 walk arounds even after telling the instructor what was on the sheet. The instructor said he never heard him say the things he told the student that he missed.

The student didn't get the same driving time in the truck as his assigned partner did and was even told that by one of the instructors. One instuctor said he aced the shifting but another instructor didn't like the way he was shifting.

Too bad after spending that kind of money that the student walked away feeling cheated and that each time he went back he would be charged more money for the walk around test.

Instructor with this paticular student was also on the cell phone with his wife and then yelled for the student to turn ahead.

I wish there was another CDL school that was more professional. CDL schools in AZ are half the price and have 99% success rate in graduates.

Money grubbing company
by: Anonymous

Would not recommend this company for a cdl license. A bunch of impatient teachers who are crude and use foul language. Seems to me they care more about being a money grubbing company as opposed to being a Legitamite company who cares about teaching truck driving

Dunking donuts
by: Anonymous

I took a cdl class not to long ago. The instructor I had if you could call him that, spent almost 90 percent of the day inside the break room or talking with his co worker or bitching to me about the owner of the company.

He was not informative he seemed more interested in the different types of donuts the break room had and seemed to care less about getting me through and andactually teaching me something.

He was very rude and very impatient. I have had numerous people ask me if I would recommend nit. My response was if they had the slug that I had who only cared about dunking donuts and bad mouthing the owners of the company then no.

But I'm sure there are good instructors there unwashed just unfortunate to get the worse of the bunch. Thank you jay for a complete waste of time and money. Time you find a new profession perhaps drill instructor or competitive eating
