New Truckers Wife here..... & need some encouragement

My husband of 10 years, left on his birthday of 2013, he was gone for well over 6 weeks of training & after he was granted a 4 day home time, our kids & myself was doing OK with the new adjustments, until May 2,2013 @ 2:27am..............

Ma'am this is ********, & your husband has suffered a massive heart attack (my hubby is only 30 with no previous medical problems or family history) he was in Pennsylvania & we are from NC....

It's a 12 hour drive..... Needless to say I made it in 8........ Well after recovery & being home for 2 months, He climbed back into his "mistress Big Red" & all day long I've held a death grip on the phone, the Bible & cried so much my poor babies couldn't even finish dinner............

Now yall please, I'm scared as hell to put it bluntly but what to do when he calls to tell me goodnight & I'm hiding the tears & trying to sound "normal"??

I agree with you to an extent....it is a highly stressful job and can put major wear and tear on the entire body. However, there are many truck drivers who work many years out there and have not had heart attacks. My husband has been driving for 25 years and has been dealing with high blood pressure for many years. Even though it is a stressful job it is mainly how we decide to deal with the stress, and how much we are willing to put into taking care of our bodies, is actually how the body will react to the stress. Eating healthy, exercise, and visits to the doctors, are key ingredients to sustaining a long and healthy life.

I think it is the job itself because they have a time limit & they want to make that money! & that puts undue stress on the heart!

They are not discriminatory. They don't choose a person by age, gender, or ethnic background. If the doctor says he can work then he must be okay, doctors are the ones who allow drivers to drive. If the company is allowing him to work then it must be okay. I don't know how to tell you everything is going to be okay. I can not predict that. Only words I can express is to keep faith in a power higher than ourselves and trust in it. God Bless
