Is it mandatory to have a truck driver trainer?

I personally would feel more comfortable driving and learning through experience alone. Is this even allowed?

Trucking Without Training
by: The Crazy Trucker

I don't see how learning to drive a truck through experience alone logistically works.

How will you know what you don't know in order to learn it. Where would you plan on driving the truck at to learn trucking?

On the highway with other people?

It is best to learn by instruction from an experience trucker.

Some level of education, coaching and informing needs to come before the learning by doing.

You educate, demonstrate, then allow the student to apply.

You would feel more confident if the right person was your teacher than jumping in a truck trying to figure out trucking life on your own.

Don't let ego get in the way.

That Would Be Crazy In My Opinion
by: Hervy

I'm not aware of anyone who would let you jump in a tractor trailer and teach yourself.

This not the type of thing practical for that.

Besides why would you want to?

You shorten the learning curve for understanding and becoming proficient at anything with coaching/training with a good coach/trainer.

There are things you can learn but there are things you don't know. And worse, things you don't know that you don't know. How do you learn things that you don't know that you don't know?

You can't even google or youtube it because you don't know to do so.

Training is good.
