Is it legal in NY for employer to make applicant to pay for his/her initial drug/physical test ?

I have my own valid medical certificate. When I applied for CDL driving job my prospective employer send me to their approved medical office for initial drug test and physical. And they want me, as any of their their applicant to pay for it $110.

Is it legal?

Who pays for drug test and medical exam NEW

It is legal for the company to have you pay for the drug test and/or medical exam. Some will charge you and some will not.

Your medical card although valid does not have anything to do with whether or not you took drugs since the issuance so its a good idea for an employer to test their drivers prior to letting them get on the road.

With so many people taking the test know that have used drugs and hoping that it will not show up, many are charging for the test.

Some will reimburse for it after getting hired. Others will

They normally take it out of your pay in small payments some do some don't.
