my man is wanting me to go out on the road with him, but would tht be a good idea? i mean two ppl in a truck that dont look very spacious... would our nerves get erked?

In my situation, I was the driver and my husband finally came along. Time flew by and we had date night every night. If he is your best friend it should be awesome. The only reason it would suck is if you really are not meant to be. I personally could not do it alone anymore when he wanted to stay home to help my mom. But my dad had just died so I was a basket case anyway. I am trying to get back out there and having trouble getting hired. Wish me luck. Let us know how it goes.

life changing

You have to do it!! I would not change this life now for anything. I got in the truck with my fiance almost 2 years ago and have not gotten out. The stuff that you see in a big truck is nothing like being in a 4-wheeler. The people that you meet are fascinating, most anyway you do come across the ocassional rude one but that is life right. I just got my cdl 2 weeks ago and now we run as a team from ga to ca and we will be able to pay off our home in the next 10 years and retire if we want to and I am only 41 years old. I highly recommend that you try it... It is a life altering experience!!!!

You Have to GO!

OH my goodness you have to go! It is the most awsome experience I have every had. I got to see places like Paul,ID --where we picked up potatoes-it was a nice small little town..then there was Sharon, KS -not a whole lot there but I got to see how grain is put into trucks-you get to see real Americans working hard trying to make a living just like all of us "normal" -now granted I would have loved to stop and walk down the streets and into all the little shops but there isn't much time when the freight has to be delivered on time. OH and mountians in WA state where we get apples...its just so cool. I went in the winter time -through WY and NE -not so much fun I just went in the bunk and slept! But it also teaches you how to share the road w/ our truck drivers -so many idiot 4wheelers out there just think the truckers can stop on dime and they have no consideration of their blind spots how they turn and how long it takes them to slow down. Anyway -it will make you a better driver but just hanging w/ your hubby out on the road -its a blast! For me it was a big camping trip -I wasn't working but I was keeping him company and got a little taste of what its like out there. We have been to Seattle to Miami together and have been to almost all the lower 48 together via the highways --YOU gotta go!OH and you sleep like a baby--I sware its some of the best sleep I have ever had -plus you are with your husband and its quite cozy!:) Before I agreed I had my husband promise no matter what I had to have a shower everyday -don't like roughin it that much!We didn't fight once!

You may just love it out there!

In any case you really should stick it out at leas for a few weeks. Even if you go and don't like it, stick it out for a few weeks. That way you'll know exactly what it is like and you can identify with the things he may mention or the things that may come up which could be difficult to understand or imagine if you don't experience the road.

Plus.....

You should consider the fact that there are few drivers who don't want their woman to come on the road because with them.

Which is a big disappointment for the woman who wants to go and possibly a red flag, I might add but not automatically a red flag.

Likewise it is a disappointment for the man if he is begging you to join him and you don't take the opportunity to try it. It ruins his ego and could be interpreted as you not being interested.

Yes it is closed quarters, but probably not as closed as you might think. It mostly depends on what type of unit he is driving, some trucks are more spacious than others.

Go give it a shot and let us know how you loved it!

On the Road

I can't imagine any thing that is more fun than to be on the road with my best friend and husband. In fact in June, I going to retire and spend the rest of my time (as long as he can drive) on the road. We have done this once in the past but I had to come home to help take care of my mom. Now things are different and I'll only be home when I want to. You find ways to get along and also find things to entertain yourself. My hubby likes for me to read to him while he's driving and we listen to music and books on tape or cd. Sure, sometimes I'd like to wring his neck but that happens even when he's home, it's not always wine and roses but most of the time it couldn't be better. If you get the chance to go, please do. You'll be surprised at what you see and how much you learn about each other. Good Luck, and maybe someday we'll see you out there.

we will be gone for at least 2 years, so we can make money and when we get back we r going to try and have a child. u have a great point to go out and try it once, i just dont know if i am cut out for it or not, i appreciate ur comment... thanx

My husband is a trucker and i've been out with him a few times and its fun and you will enjoy yourself if you like being with your man. You get to go to other places and see new people and besides ever had your man in the truck... Nice go for it and have a blast.
