I'm 15 years old, can I drive a semi on the road with a trailer if I have an adult with me?

I was just wondering if I could haul corn this fall with a semi if my dad is with me in the semi.

15 and driving 18 wheels? NEW
by: Trucker's woman

No. First of all You must carry a driver's license not a permit. The fact that you are asking this in the first place tells me you don't even have a driving permit.
2) it must be a Class A, not class B, or anything else, and DOT requires CDL school for that, and they usually require you to be 18.
3) Even if your dad owns his tractor, trailer AND has his own authority he still drives on government roads and still must follow the laws. If you were in a collision with another motorist or pedestrian, your dad could face serious fines and penalties due to the collision.
4) I think the only tractor you could drive might be a farm tractor or farming equipment as that does not require a permit much less a license.

I know you're probably excited about doing this but you have to remember your tractor trailer has a gross weight of up to 40 tons (80,000 pounds fully loaded). Even the tractor alone is about 1/2 that weight.
If I were you, get your license first and when you turn 18, go to a reputable CDL school (Roadmaster is best, as they are a nationally accredited school), get your CDL, and then you can drive.
