How can I clear a DOT citation?

While in NY,I missed a low clearance sign..needless to say,I hit a over pass..truck itself wasn't damaged,but trailer was.
I was sent home on a bus. now every company I apply is telling me the same thing..The accident is a hinder.
Charges are failure to obscure warning signs.. Is there any hope of me getting a job again?
