Do you have to be a truck driver, driving a truck to maintain your CDL?

I have a CDL that I earned in the early 90's, but now I am out of the profession. Can I still maintain my CDL under the new regulations requiring what truck I intend to drive and the medical certificate if applicable

Keeping Your CDL While Not Driving NEW

If you have them, you don't have to surrender them. By January 30 though, you have to self certify whether or not you will use it for interstate or intrastate driving.

If you don't plan on driving a truck at all, just put intrastate.

If you plan on driving at some point you need to put interstate and send your state drivers licensing agency a copy of your medical card.

Here is a list of state agencies and how they will accept a copy of the medical card (some only walk in, some will take email, etc)
