Company deducting money for operating expenses at local trucking job

My husband worked over the road.he wanted a local job.he find it..but they deduct half for fuel cost and half for truck ins and no he not leasing..i am confuse!

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

What a ripoff if he is not on as a lease. Even big rip off if he is company driver and they are misclassifing him as a lease in order to reap a lot of benefits...just look up at that lawsuit against FedEx from where they did same thing of missclassified a lot of there drivers who were company drivers And they were been classified as independent contractors
