Can a trucking company charge me for a preventible accident

I was charged for a preventible accident by Central Refrigerated Service because my tandems slide once because a four wheeler cut me off but they didn't come off so they told me to go back to the shipper and transfer the load but the shipper didn't have any extra trailers on the way back the trailer settled and I called my maint. dept and they told me to take it to a T.A.and have it checked which I did and the guy said it was ok to run that the damage was only normal wear and tear.
