After buying an 18 wheeler can I drive it home with paper tag?

I am buying an 18 wheeler located in Canada. Do I have to have a federal inspection before I can legally drive it to Texas or will a paper tag be enough?

I am not sure about what to do in Canada. In the states it seems like all you have to do is have the bill of sale and the paper tag.

I called 5 states and most of them said all you need is the bill of sale. A few said you need IFTA stickers. They weren't sure. I had to make several calls to all of the states to get an answer.

Like I said the last word I got from all was bill of sale and temp paper tag.

At least half of the states also said that you need to also run a log book. I don't understand why, if you don't have DOT # or IFTA stickers. But I did it.

I will be posting a video soon.
