What is the best paying sector for owner/operat in the trucking industry ?

I'm a retired vet looking to get into trucking myself and have started taking a course for a CDL-Class A at a local community college.

My goal is to become a owner-operator after getting a year of experience. I'm wondering what is the best paying sector in the trucking industry without spending weeks away from home?

Is it the Tanker sector? Intermodal sector? Will the Hazmat endorsement or TWIC certification give you an advantage? Has anyone broken it down on a per mile basis which sector is the best paying?
If so where can I find out?

I get a lot of recruiters calling with questions about what sector I'm interested in driving. As a new driver, most companies want you to go over the road for weeks at a time and pay you as little as 28cent a mile.

I'm willing to pay my dues to get the experience, but only in the sector where I'll eventually be an owner/operator.

I need to make a decision soon. Any advice you have is much appreciated ! Thank you in advance.

PS: I definitely enjoyed the advice from the different O/O's in your videos.
