Working Hard

My name is Keith Edwards. I am a law abiding citizen of society with a new outlook on life and a positive attitude trying to do right, but I have a scar on my record that has finally healed, but the scar seems to be all employers see when looking at me for employment.

That scar is a felony.

I was a twenty-six year old hard head with a bad attitude, a chip on my shoulder, and a point to prove to someone.

God had taken my mother which made me bitter and angry at the world. I made some bad decisions that went against everything my mother taught me, but more importantly against the word of God.

These decisions cost me ten valuable years of my life. It took a toll on my family, my friends and most importantly, me.

I spent ten years of my life behind bars. I had hit rock bottom, my all time low. So I made the decision to change for the better. This wasn’t the way I wanted to live the rest of my life, nor was it what my mother would have wanted for me.

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” That is what I fully intend to do. With the help of God, I have been able to change this life altering negative into a positive. While I spent ten years in prison, I completed my high school education and got my GED, I took two vocational classes, Turf Equipment Maintenance and PC Support Services, to advance my studies, I worked at a tire retreading plant, and I studied the word of God.

I wanted to live a better and more productive life, a life with meaning, a direction, and a goal to work towards.

It has been my dream to drive trucks since I was a young child. I have finally been given an opportunity to enter a CDL program, but they need a prehire letter in order to be accepted.

I would appreciate the opportunity to explain how my skill set and dedication can contribute to your team and how I can put my experience to work for you.

Thank you for your time and consideration in hearing my story. I look forward to meeting you and proving that I am a changed, trustworthy, hardworking and loyal man.

Sincerely,

Keith M. Edwards
