Parking on roadway for local deliveries

I am a local driver. I do residential deliveries most of the time. Meaning some times i have to park on roadway to unload. Today i got a citation because cop said i was blocking roadway.

If my truck can not fit in customers driveways where else am i suppose to unload at. Does anyone have a clue if there is something stating an exception to this type or circumstances?

let's solve this problem NEW

Your problem is common in this industry. Especially in residential areas. Ever been to NYC ? Yikes. In theory, you cannot block a public street for any reason, however, the city's fathers didn't think about a truck making a delivery to a home. So in theory you would need a permit to block the street and/or make your delivery in a smaller vehicle that fits into the driveway, right ?

Or, block the street and if caught, argue your point or pay the ticket. Good luck...Jimmy
