Not a "wife" but have lived with my trucker for several years.

I have an amazing group of girlfriends and a fabulous 15 yr old daughter. I love my job(s) as a merchandiser, consultant and a house painter.....

Graduated from university, wonderful supportive family, close knit community, love home renovations, design, gardening... but I hate long drives !

not so sure I love the trucker life.

When I met "the man" he was a city driver... then he started working nights... then came the weekends working on the truck, then came the highway.

We've had major challenges. Some days I love my freedom, others I feel just plain alone.

Hi Ontario Girl! Where in Ontario? I'm in Sw Ont just outside Windsor. I'm new to this site and reltively new to the truckers life. My guy has been a trucker for many years but we only met back in May. He's been divorced over 10 years and has told me that it takes a very special woman to be able to handle it and he's dated many who just couldn't. I'm learning rally fast how hard it is. This last trip has been the hardest for me. He's been OTR for 17 days now and his last stop at home was only for one day/night. The last few days he's been particularly distant. Normally we text several times a day and he calls at least 3 times each trip. The last few days his messages have been short and far apart and the last time we talked on the phone was a week ago. His morning text 2 days ago stated that he was coming down with something and felt like crap. I had expected him home last night but with feeling sick he's been driving shorter days and trying to sleep it off. He says that his delivery is open so no rush to the yard, but I can't help but wonder if maybe he is delaying coming home for another reason. I'm sure it is all in my head. I guess I just have to wait and see. Hopefully I hear from him this morning.
