my life on the road

Coping living in truck 24 7?
Basically our schedule...(husband and i)
Example-he wakes up.goes inside.gets breakfast and coffee..

Goes back to truck.wakes me up.gives me breakfast.I mix up his coffee.kiss him.say I love you.go in the back.eat my breakfast and go back to bed...

a while later I wake up.i hear Elvis on the radio. i go potty. smoke CIG.go back to bed.

A while later I wake up.Elvis on radio.I finish my breakfast.smoke CIG.kiss hlim.sit up front with him.

Sometimes he changes the radio to story time long ranger 1939. I sit up there all day sometimes. neither one of us have much to talk about. so its the radio all day. maybe one stop. get food.drink.potty.and back in truck.drive till he pulls over.

He pulls over. messes with qualcom for a minute, shuts curtains, goes in back, undresses, eats snack, usually finds something to complain about like paper or wrapping I didn't throw away or maybe my shoes are in the way or I moved something out of place and didn't put back.

He then says give me kiss I'm going to bed. He grabs his two pillows.turns over.uses one pillow between the knees and he snuggles the other one and he goes to sleep.

When he awakes and finds me at the other end of the bed he gets angry. I can't sleep by him when he has his back to me. It feels like a big wall and its hard to breathe so I sleep at the other end. At least there's a little more room for both of us that way.

He's 280 PDS. And I'm 120pds. We sleep in a twin bed.imagine that! So that basically my life on the road day after day! At least till home time comes every 3 weeks and when were home.

He gets angry cause I go visiting friends while I'm in town. All he wants to do is sit in the room at motel and watch t.v.all day.mostly mcis.

All Things Happen For A Reason I Beleive! NEW
by: Anonymous

First of i want to thank those of you who commented on my post.(appreciate the feedback).
As the saying goes be careful what you wish for..
I was complaining about not liking being on the road all the time with my husband because it was boring ,and this was basically what we argued about, other than that we get along pretty good for the most part,,
So no worries about that now,he did'nt pass dot due to health issues and has been on hold for 8 days and will continue to be on hold untill next doc. appt. in 2 weeks..
And i gave up on warning him of the importance of how helpful health insurance is,never know when you might need it..? (Stubborn)-(canceled our insuranses)
So now he knows what i was talking about cause now the cash is coming right out of his pocket (full pay patient) when he visits the doctor and the cost of motels for all this time is draining the account as well,
not to mention as owner operator might loose the truck..(no work-no truck payment)..
So anyways i learned sometime from this and i kinda miss being out there on the road!
All we can do is hope for the best and pray..
wish us luck huh! thanks for taking the time to read this! god bless.

Some are laid back NEW
by: Hervy

Paula, thanks for sharing.

You guys sound very laid back and set in your ways.
If you are happy, then that is all that matters. If you are not, introduce something new and exciting to your adventures on the road!

...and be careful, sounds like you do a lot of smoking.

Best wishes

Former trucker wes NEW
by: Anonymous

at first I thought this is just another truckers wifes story, but after reading a little. I said to myself, this girl is serious. Paula have you ever had a sitdown with this guy and explain to him that you are not another piece of equipment that comes with the truck. That's what's going to have to happen. And if he is unwilling to do that youll have to make a decision if you want to keep putting up with it or not. I mean, if you have your CDL permit, you may wind up that is if you have the strength to break away from this guy somehow paying your own way through truck school. I feel for your situation and wish you luck
