I think trucker's wife's with kids have it the worst. Kids act out. Other kids can be cruel because there dad's do stuff with there dad and kids of truckers dad's can't always be around. My name is Debbie I have been married to Paul for 6 yrs. While he is away I have to maintain the home we have.. Pay the bills fix what needs fixing.. mend what needs mending... have the home in order an take care of the kids being mom an dad when need be. Truckers miss a lot while doing there jobs. They miss births an birthdays.. miss out on watching there children grow up if there otr's thankful that my hubs is dedicated. He gets to be a part of her life more than most do. It is not a life for any woman it takes a toll on some marriages cause the life style is hard.. you are away from the so much an you fall in love all over again when they return. Watching there tail lights fade away is very hard to do but they have to go on rolling in order to make a living, some couldnt do any thing else cause trucking just isnt a job to them its in there blood it seems.. I live in N.W. Ga. an I think its great that your doing this. No one seems to careless about the woman behind the man behind the wheel an all that she does. thank you for showing that some one does. Hello.
My name is Laura. I have been with my trucker off and on over the past seven years. I am 28 and he is 40. We two children, both from previous marriages. We are engaged as of last November. Life as a trucker and girlfriend/wife is not easy. People do not understand. They do not understand not only what our guys do everyday, but what sacrifices his family has to make as well. People never will until they have actually lived it. I work 3 jobs, one fulltime, and two part-time. It is not easy trying to care for everyone, do a lot around the house, listen to him late at night to keep him awake, and the loneliness that is felt when you.hang up the phone. New to the way of life NEW

Hi, my name is Mary and I live in southern Illinois. My trucker and I have been together for a little over a year now...not married yet but living together. We met when he would bring in plant loads from California to where I used to work in St. Louis. My husband of 14 years had just passed away so I was in my own little world. I didn't see my trucker again for a year or so then after his second trip in flowers came. The rest is history. He always told me that when he finally found the one that he would not be driving anymore...didn't want to put her through that. Had he not been driving we would never have met. It is very difficult not having him home and when he is it is only for a short time. He doesn't run California anymore and we are thankful for that...5 hours together in 7 days was not fun. More people need to understand what it is like to not have the one you love gone most of the time. We will never take eachother for granted as our time together is precious. More people also need to understand trucking in general and what our families sacrifice to bring them everything they use. Hello my name is Shirley and i have been married to my trucker for 7 months. Its not all it's craked up to be... Yeah its wonderful loving a man thats a trucker,the only problem is him being gone for month or two.. Its hard on women that is married to a trucker. The money is good,even thou he is buying his truck.. He works for John Christer Trucking (JCT).. I spend alot of time on the phone with my husband.. It gets lonely being home by myself. I do go on the road with him sometimes,if i had a choice I would be on the truck all year,but i have a 7 yr old boy that would miss me,When summer hit,and school is out me and my son would be going on the road with my hubby..It"s cool that ya are doing this. Never knew that people relly care for truckers and there wifes/girlfriends!!!! Truckers Wife NEW

I have been married to my trucker for 12 years now and it is not all it is cracked up to be..He has tried to give up the road twice and she keeps calling him back... We trucker wifes have to sacrifice alot of things to be with our trucker. When he is gone we have to be mom and dad to our kids...an the adjustments that is made when he comes home to, sometimes I want mine to be ready to go and do but he is usually ready to just sit down and rest while he is home...honey do list usually get put to the side unless I do them.. This isnt a glorious life that we have decided to be a part of but that is why we love them..

Most of us that know each other have only talked on the phone or the internet and I can bet you that very few live close by, my nearest friend who's husband works as a trucker lives on the other side of the state. so you will be lucky to find ppl that live close together.

20 year trucker's wife NEW

Really? Are you serious about making a documentary on being a trucker's wife? It surely won't be some warm fuzzy piece about how we sacrifice our home and family so our husbands can be road warriors bringing goods and services to far and near. Those of us who have stuck it out hate the life we've been forced to live in order to stay married to the man we love. Driver missed most of the special moments about being Dads and our children never really know their fathers. Birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries are something other people celebrate with family and friends. Few of us have friends who aren't in the industry because truckers are looked down on as low lifes. We think they are heroes who struggle to put food on the table with a job that gives them little or no respect yet everyone in America should be thankful for because everything from our cars to our food is there because a trucker delievered it safe and sound. The truth isn't going to be a nice little package trucking companies can use as a recruiting tool. They won't like what they hear.

I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and we are eventually going to move in together. The only thing is he decided to start truck driving and will be gone for weeks at a time. I am already having problems coping with him not being here. I also have a full time job so we pretty much only communicate through one phone call a day or text messaging.
