I have 16 years driving experience with most of that over the road. I've been out of a truck since 1997 as I got divorced and sole custody of four kids. My youngest just graduated High School and is attending college and I'd like to get back on the road.
I rented a truck and got my class A with tanker endorsement renewed. I have very diversified driving experience as I started in the oilfield, have moved heavy equipment locally and some mobile home moving experience.
Most of my experience has been pulling a reefer or dry van around the lower 48 and Canada.
Seems that trucking school grads have a better chance of getting a job even though I'm sure I have more experience than most of their teachers. They want "recent" experience.
I know a lot of the laws and regulations have changed but as far as driving goes I can still handle a truck as well or better than most. After not having a CDL for over ten years I paid a guy to bring his truck to the DPS, took the test with no practice and got my CDL first day.
If there's anybody out there looking for a seasoned driver to drive their truck, be it long haul, regional, local or oilfield I would like to hear from you. I am not afraid to work and know a driver is not someone who just sits behind the wheel with a CB in hand and naked ladies on his mud flaps.
If you need a good driver for a team, that would help me learn the new rules.
Comments for Jim Kelly 15yrs exp just not recent. tanker endorsement.
