I-285 Westside Closed in Both Directions This Weekend

Driver heads-up for the weekend of October 24, 2026.

I-285 on Atlanta's Westside is closed in BOTH directions — Cascade Road (exit 7) through Highway 166 / Langford Parkway (exit 5). The closure started 7 PM Friday, October 23 and runs until 5 AM Monday, October 26.

GDOT's detour: take I-20 or Highway 166 into downtown Atlanta, then the I-75/85 Connector north or south through the city.

Last weekend's I-285 closure backed up for miles. GDOT pointed at trucks that missed the posted detours. Local trucking leaders said the real problem was signage — drivers could not find the detour they were supposed to take.

Plan the detour before you get there. Do not let the GPS walk you into a closed interstate at midnight.
