Some things that could get a truck driver terminated
by: The Crazy Trucker

A trucking company may terminate drivers for various reasons. If they said accidents they might have been talking about incidents at the company which they didn't report to DAC.

Unless you are saying the company claims the accidents occurred at previous trucking companies. Then it would be strange for them to hire him then learn about accidents. Would be a poor process for hiring.

But here are some other reasons that truck drivers could get terminated for.

1. Safety violations: Safety is of utmost importance in the trucking industry. If a driver consistently violates safety regulations, such as speeding, driving under the influence, or failing to properly secure cargo, the company may terminate their employment to ensure the well-being of both the driver and the public.

2. Poor driving record: Companies often review a driver's driving history and may terminate them if they have a record of multiple accidents, traffic violations, or license suspensions. Such records can indicate a lack of responsibility and pose a risk to the company's reputation and insurance costs.

3. Failure to meet performance standards: Trucking companies have performance expectations for their drivers, including meeting delivery schedules, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to company policies. If a driver consistently fails to meet these standards or demonstrates a lack of commitment to their responsibilities, the company may terminate their employment.

4. Substance abuse or drug/alcohol-related incidents: Operating a commercial vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited due to safety concerns. If a driver is found to be involved in substance abuse or drug/alcohol-related incidents, the company will likely terminate their employment to maintain compliance with regulations and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

5. Dishonesty or theft: Trust is crucial in the trucking industry, as drivers are responsible for valuable cargo. If a driver is found to be dishonest or involved in theft, such as stealing cargo or falsifying records, the company may terminate their employment to protect their assets and maintain the trust of clients.

6. Violation of company policies: Trucking companies have specific policies and procedures that drivers must adhere to. Violating these policies, such as unauthorized use of company equipment, unauthorized stops, or unauthorized communication with clients, can result in termination.

7. Job performance or customer complaints: If a driver consistently fails to perform their duties satisfactorily or receives numerous complaints from customers regarding their professionalism, punctuality, or customer service skills, the company may decide to terminate their employment.

It's important to note that termination decisions can vary among trucking companies, and specific circumstances may influence their actions. Additionally, local employment laws and regulations may also play a role in the termination process.
