Retired Paramedic! Recently retired as a locksmith!
51 y/o with 25 yrs driving a straight box truck.

Time to move on up to a big truck. Good background and clean MVR. Looking for something a little different than most. Already a skilled driver! Already a company man! What do you have to offer?

OK- here is the low down on my trucking experience.
It SUX!
Went on to train with the first company. After 28 days, I was told" either sign the lease or go home"
2nd job was in Nashville TN. Average pay for 10 weeks was 280.00/ wk
Both companies were running 30 men a week through orientation. Every Week!
Local work is non existent without 2 years over the road.
So much for my 3k out of pocket for school and lost wages for 6 months.
If your thinking about seeing the country? Just remember this. It will be all interstate. Yea, I got to see the signs for Niagra Falls and even the Grand Canyon. But, even is you had time, where are you going to park?
No, not a fun job at all. You have 14 hrs a day to be doing anything connected with work. And, you are expected to be driving 10.5 hours. Then you find yourself being held captive in a truck stop for 10 hrs.
Not Me, never again!
