Detroit driver seeking a local trucking driving job.

I want some experience driving a tractor trailer...

Last time I drove a semi was in 2005. I got 50,000 miles otr. But I have been driving straight trucks in Metro Detroit since then.

Im looking for a dedicated or home every other day route.

Most companies hiring processes are dictated by their insurance companies, so, if you have not been in an 18 and have less than 1-3 years recent, they will not hire you. You will have to get some training again such as hiring-on for a company that will put you with a diver-trainer for about a month, which means you will only make about $250 a week until you finish and are but loose by the trainer. Then you are obligated to driver for that company a year.

I drove over the road in an 18 in 46 states, plus Quebec and Ontario, out to Long Island, the Bronx, to Miami, to Miami, hauled Fed-Ex and when my license expired because I was on vaction for a month and forot about it, they made me go back and get a car-dirver permit, take a car written and driving test, then take the CDL test and road test all over again. That was Ohio, so it was like I had never driven in my life-anything. But to the feds and insurance companies, it is just another way to make money. Face it, driving and 18 is like riding a bicycle, once you learn, you never forget. But thats our American system today.
