Curious with a side of furious

So this is my issue and I'm sure it is a familiar story. I would like to share it with others whom may help me understand. So my boyfriend went back to trucker school and instantly got a job then switched companies. I had only been with him five months before he left for schooling. The first thing that bothers me is that he isn't wanting a job closer to home even when they pay more.

He brought a lady with him on his last home time hoping I would understand that he was giving her a ride. I didn't take it well because he didn't tell me until I was heading out to his truck so why he hide her is beyond me. He felt sorry for her so basically he spent his entire home time catering to her at the local truck stop.

A friend of mine went to him and she claims he was honest about giving her a ride. I hadn't seen him for over three months at that point and he expected me to really understand. He still wants to work it out. We also have a son together which he missed his birthing. And only seen him when he was two weeks old.
