What is Compounding? Glad You Asked
Compounding is when a pharmacist takes the ingredients needed to make a drug and create the drug himself. This may be done to create a drug that is not commercially available. It can also be done to eliminate a certain ingredient that comes in manufactured medication that is not needed by the patient or that the patient may be allergic to. A compounding Pharmacist can also change the from of the drug say from liquid to solid or to a cream.
