Check Craigslist. Plenty of companies on there that will hire you.One guy in a similar situation found a good job there by making dozens of phone calls and leaving dozens of phone messages.

Look in Chicago Craigslist for small trucking companies in Chicago area

In Chicago area there are a lot of smaller trucking companies that are looking for drivers to hire. You even if there are some that you don't fit all of the description for, call them.

You never know. Timing has a lot to do with it. But you have to be persistent too.

I've gotten 3 trucking jobs with smaller carriers and local trucking companies during my trucking career looking in local listings.

One company I put in 2 applications, took to personally. Checked on at least 4 times and finally caught the owner when he was on the way to lunch.

Went with him to lunch. That's how I got the job.
