Can I still be a trucker after testing positive at trucking school?

by Johnny
(Tampa Fl)

I'm serious about starting a career as a trucker. I tested positive for marijuana at a trucking school and was told I couldn't complete my schooling there.

I have my permit and I know DOT was notified. I'm 40 plus days clean but because when I did smoke it was potent stuff it stayed in my system longer then 30 days. I know I made a mistake but I do want this profession.

How can I continue on this path. I've been doing research and it looks bleak but I've always been a fighter I'm just looking for a little hope.

The DOT holds records for 3 years the last poster is just being a dick. Worst case you gotta hold off for that long. Best case you can get in at a mom and pop company for that long then keep trying. Keep your head up there's alot of truckers who piss dirty who still get employed after a certain amount of time.

I think the school was trying to be ethical and not let you waste your money. I don't know if you can get a job Johnny.

I wish I could get you some hopeful answers but I really don't know how that plays out.

Maybe you will have to try again next year.
