2. Chicken coupe in Louisiana

My boyfriend and I are both drivers, at the time we were hauling a dry van for a very large expediting company. I had just gotten off my shift only about an hour earlier and had filled out my log book accordingly. I had snuggled into my PJs and was preparing for my sleeper time when we got pulled into a scale house.

Not thinking much of it I layed down and began dozing off. The officer in the scale house came out and told us to pull around to the back. When we got around to the back he climbed onto the step and asked my boyfriend if he would open the door. Since we have two small dogs He politely said no and explained. The officer seemed nice and said he understood.

He asked for my boyfriends log book. He gave it to him. The cop looked it over and promptly asked for my log book and license and said that he wanted to talk to me since the log book obviously showed we were team drivers. One of the rules of team driving is that officers are not allowed to wake you from your sleeper birth.

When my boyfriend told the officer no that he could not see my license and/or talk to me. He became agitated and told my boyfriend to get out of the truck. He got out of the truck and stood next to the door. The officer then grabbed for the door handle and tried to enter the truck. Again my boyfriend was standing in front of the door and blocked him from from getting in.

When he was unable to get into the truck he shoved my boyfriend to the ground yanked him back up and forced him into the back of a police car. He then came back to the truck and saw himself in. By this point I was scared not only had the cop violated the rules and assaulted my boyfriend but he now wanted to come and talk to me.

I had my log book and license ready. He got in the truck and told me he knew that I wasn't old enough to drive and that we were both going to jail. I all but threw my license in his face and told him he better get my boyfriend out of the back of that car ASAP.

With his new found information I could tell he felt stupid he went and got my boyfriend out of the car and apologized for knocking him down. After apologizing about 10 more times he asked if we wanted to file a complaint. We said no and promptly got the heck outta there.

Its nice that he thought I was that young but he could have just called the number on the side of the truck if he really thought we were pulling the wool over his eyes.

Yeah right NEW

I bet retired officer then driver above gets to flash his "retired officer" badge when he comes to a coop. After over 3 decades on the road I absolutely understand just getting back in the truck and making your delivery. What company is going to pay your time while you file a comp!aint?None I know. Then your time to go back and follow-up on the judicial process!!!???? YEAH RIGHT! DOT cop knew that he did them right by apologizing and offering the complaint. Lots of cops wouldn't have done that. He had it coming to him but I totally get what they did.

Tough talk NEW

you know i always hear how (well i told that cop by god you better) and its funny to me after having served as an officer and a driver never once have i ever herd of any unless drunk ever talk like that to a cop and if you do you are just stupid.you certainly have a right to express an opionion to the cop but i think those who brag about how they told a cop he better do something is probably a cb rambo. This guy has been trained and unless a rookie has nothing to prove to anyone except to do his job.I agree some of these guys are true assholes but if your boyfriend did block him from opening the door then he could have been charged with obstructing an officer in the line of duty.Might want to tell your boy friend to be a little smarter next time. Also if I was you i would file charges against him if i was done wrong like you said and as far as you telling him he better get boyfriend out of the cruiser i doubt it but it sure sounded tough though.

i'm in dire need of a new career path due to the economic downturn, always knew trucking is a stable industry and with the frackin gold rush about to hit here in NY I have been seriously considering trucking.

I've recently been offered a great opportunity driving regional from a friend who has started his own outfit..but now after my research with all the stories, it seems that the authorities get quite a kick out of hassling truckers..whoever said trucking was easy...was dead wrong as far as I figure....
