What have I got myself into being a truckers wife?

My husband had decided to truck drive after 14 years of jobs not succeding due to the economy. He has gotten his cdl class a license thru Roadmaster trucking school and now going thru his orientation at Swift in Gary Indiana and will be driving flatbed. How soon does the company match him with a mentor and can he request being home once or twice durimg his 4 to 6 week training? Is his mentor from around where he lives or does Swift bus him to his mentor? After his training anf he takes the road test can I travel with him? Can they match him to a mentor from around where he lives and is the routes dedicated around his home area? Any help would be grately appreciated.
