Owner operator trying to figure out how much to pay a driver

by Lady Di
(Cali)

I just purchased a truck and trailer. I am trying to find out the best way to pay my driver without me totally coming up on the short end.

What would be a good price to pay by the mile, or would I want to pay a set rate for?

I would drive otr for an O/O for 600.00 to 700.00 per week able to start asap. or even local (preferred but not a must) rate open for discussion. I'm near Punta Gorda fl. email me if interested. midnightwalker2004@yahoo.com

PAYING A DRIVER ? NEW
by: Anonymous

I'm sorry to tell you; Your headed for trouble right from the start. Why would you buy the trk & trl before looking into expences such as insurance, maintaince, office equipment, loads, lanes, fuel, layover pay, deadheading and medical costs just to name some food for thought.I started out on the docks, learning the trucking operations from manufactoring to shipping. Talked to lots of the drivers that gave sound advice in what to look for in starting my own trucking company. The best help, was a business class. My advice to you now is "lease on" and pay the driver less than the company pays the truck.. Read the contract carefully before signing.
