New to the whole trucking thing

My fiance literally just started his training two weeks ago. Hell be gone for another four weeks. We're both young 20 and 21 just starting out.
He had difficultly trying to find out what he wanted to do with himself while I went to school.

I recently graduated and now I'm a stylist and he's on the road. We have basically been inseparable since we met 2 years ago so this is a huge adjustment for me. I've been trying my hardest not to take my frustrations at work and at home out in him because he works hard and he's not here and it's difficult for him to. Especially with the holidays coming up.

I recently told him I want to go on the road with him at some point to see what it's like for him so I can have some kind of perspective on what it's like for him and my question is for those who have done that with there husband's did that help you cope with this profession and lifestyle?

We're about to start planning our wedding and that's stressful enough as it is let alone him being gone for the majority of it. I just need to know how to not only make it "easier" on myself but for him as well.

Hi hun, While I have not gone on the road yet with my boyfriend he is gone 5 days at a time. I'm not sure that you need to go with him in order to understand what he goes through. What you need to know is that as hard as this is for you to be away from him, it will be just as hard if not harder for him. While you are sleeping in your bed every night he is sleeping in a 7 x 7 (or so) box. I have some recommendations for you! I met my boyfriend back in May and again while it isn't easy not seeming him for 5 days in a row, the spark is incredible. If you don't have a Bluetooth headset, get one as should he (because legally that is the only way he can talk on the phone). The first weekend we met we spent 30 hours on the phone and we haven't looked back since! We look forward to our calls during that time. If he has another 4 weeks of school, he will most likely have about 4-6 weeks in training with a trainer in his truck so the calls will only be while he is not driving. Once he is otr on his own you can chat as much as you and he wish. Depending on who he is driving for, it will depend on when and for how long he is home. My bf runs 5 days home for 34 hours (sometimes) 2 full days. I've heard of other truckers out for 3 weeks and home for 3-5 days. With you being a hair stylist his home time will be difficult unless it's days you are off work. It seems my bf's hometime is generally Mon and Tues in which I'm at work from 9-5 but make those evening hours quality. You guys are young and have a whole lifetime ahead of you and some couples can make it through this while others can't. It takes 2 strong individuals to handle it. A piece of advice, if you are on Facebook there are some trucker's wife/girlfriend pages where you can chat with other women and ask many questions. If you want to know what they are, please feel free to email me at stacylkment(at)gmail(dot)com and I will gladly guide you to those pages.
