my biggest dream one is becoming a truck driver.I'm a 34 yrs old female.I wish many of years that I would've in school. I want to know do i need a ged or a HS diploma to become a truck driver please help.

No G.E.D. requirement for CDL NEW

Marcus, you can get your CDL without a G.E.D. Some trucking schools however will not take you without a G.E.D. So you will be limited somewhat in that regard.

Some trucking companies will also not hire you without a G.E.D. just like many other types of jobs might require a G.E.D. for employment.

If you have a history of working and/or displaying that you are in fact able to read, write and comprehend it might help you out.
(Which we know you can do to a degree since you are on a website asking a question...)

If I were you however, I would do all I could to get the G.E.D. as soon as possible. It will only benefit you in what you will learn in the process.

Many programs exists now that will enable you to get it for free or at little cost. Look into it.

If you end up trucking without getting the G.E.D consider doing it online in your spare time while you are trucking once you are out of training.
