I had two dui's in 2005 in my personal vehicle....will large trucking companies hire me now

I want to get my cdl's and I have been told that no large over the road company will hire me because I had two dui's in 2005.

They were in my personal vehicle and I didn't have a cdl license at the time. Will those dui's hurt me now

Life As A Trucker Answer:

Yes. Most of them want to see at least 10 years clear of DUIs. Some will go for 5 years but since you have 2, it will be a huge challenge to get on.

DUI / Trucking Jobs
by: Doug Shields

I'm a recruiter for fleets.

Most fleets require a three to five year clean MVR record. If you've had any other brushes with the law i.e. misdemeanors, felonies, or anything at all like that since your DUI's you can probably hang it up.

Here is the DECLINE policy of one of my more liberal fleets:

* Any DUI or DWI convictions in the last 3 years for both Experienced and Student Drivers

• More than one conviction for drug, alcohol or controlled substances require prior approval of the safety department.

As you can see, your two DUI's will require special approval by the safety department.

I would check it out first to make sure you could get hired prior to going to CDL driving school etc.

Thanks,

Doug Shields
