How do you explain employment gaps?

I am a female interested in the industry. I was previously a student and homemaker how do I explain that?

Also, will that prevent companies from hiring me?

No felonies, NO tickets, no accidents no health issues looking for a school now.

But don't I need to verify that I was a homemaker? There were times that my husband was also employed Yes we live in an area that was hit hard by the economy and very rarely can you find employment here which is my entire reasoning for getting my CDL and trucking My husband is unable or he would bad eye site I however am clean no health issues, no record, no tickets just bad credit...
