They can stop you. However, many times they don't. It depends on the type of area it is, the reason for the sign and who the officer is.

Bottom line they can stop you if that sign includes a 3 axle tractor.

No one can say if they will or not. You could call local police department and/or highway patrol/dot and ask for feedback about it. Get his her name if they say it's ok to drive through.

That could be your best move if you are going to drive through that area.
