What is Pay By The Load

by The Crazy Trucker

Getting paid by the load means you won't be quoted pay per mile. You will be given a certain amount to do the load depending on where you're going. Most of these types of situations that I've seen has been local or regional runs.

You could see this in oilfield jobs, containers or other specialties.

Find out if the pay is for round trip coming back empty or if you need to pick up another load.

What you have to figure out is how long it will take total. Then see if the pay you end up with justifies the amount of time it will take.

Then will you do the same thing each day or will the loads vary.
Best question will likely be how much can you expect to make each month.
