Using a Leased Truck For Hauling at Another Company

Thank you for the information. There was a small part saying that if you are leasing with a company, they might not allow you to work with a separate company.

If I am leasing would I be able to work one company in the day time and have a hired driver work at night with a different company?

Is there any other information on this topic? Or is it just as simple as the companies decide. This is for a local position.

Using a Leased Truck
by: Hervy

Tom, if you are leasing the truck from a trucking company and you are hauling their freight, I seriously doubt that you are allowed to haul for another company.

This might be allowed however, if you are using your own authority and insurance.

If you leased from a leasing company and not a trucking company and you have your own authority and insurance, it is possible to haul for two different companies as independent contractor.

To be sure about getting the right answer, you should ask the leasing company if it is OK. Also as the trucking company if it is not one and the same.
