Should I just take the skills test after being out of the biz for 10yrs?

I have logged between 800k to 1mil miles in a big truck from 1993 to 2001, never had an accident and was one of the best in the business.

(of course that sounds like a trucker so now you know I'm real.)

So I am thinking about getting back into the game, I took and passed all of the written including hazmat and tanker the first try. So I have a little confidence now but I'm wondering if I pay for the skills test, 300.00,and hope I pass or do I go to the refresher course, 1000.00, which included the skills test.

Just wondering what you think.

Skills test for trucking getting back on the road after time off
by: Anonymous

Well they always told me once a truck driver you never forget it. It is just like riding a bicycle you never forget.

It is up to you, and if you had the money to spare I would take the refresher course. Just to knock the rust off.
