I recently had the pleasure of visiting a soul food restaurant that catered not only to my taste buds but also to my need for convenience as a truck driver.

Exit 108 right across the street from the Loves Truck Stop you'll see a strange combo of a Soul Food Restaurant and Convenient Store called Red's Soulfood Mart.

Let me take you through my wonderful dining experience.

To begin with, you'll be greeted by a smiling Nikki. They are friendly and the ambiance inside is inviting and energetic. I felt like I was about to meet family or friends from work for lunch.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. The menu was a soul food lover's dream come true, with a wide variety of mouthwatering options to choose from. From crispy fried chicken and tender collard greens to creamy macaroni and cheese and flavorful cornbread, every dish showcased the rich and comforting flavors that soul food is known for. The portions were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and content.

My choices were mac and cheese, collards and green beans. You might wonder, "Where's the meat?" I skipped this time but don't worry it was a truly heavenly combination. And if you're wondering..... Yes the green beans were PERFECT not stringy.

Here's the meat and other menu items to choose from. (That i can remember)

Fried Chicken
Fried Fish
Pork Chops
Ribs

Sides include... collards, rice, yams, green beans, peas and mashed potatoes. Also coleslaw.

They also have Carrot cake, Hummingbird Cake, Orange Cake and Red Velvet cake.

Overall, my experience at this soul food restaurant was exceptional. The combination of delectable soul food, friendly service, and convenient location for truck drivers makes it a standout dining destination.

Whether you're passing through or looking for a place to unwind after a long drive, this restaurant is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and indulge in their flavorful dishes once again and get the cabbage that I forgot last time!

Thanks Red and Nikki for a home cooked southern meal on the road!
