New truckers wife (since 2007) of an o/o trucker alone at night... :0o

I'm here to talk with other wives of truckers. What a nice opportunity! Here's my current question: How do those of you whose children are grown (I was married for 38 years and then divorced) best deal with evenings alone?

We're in the country and, although not isolated, I am in a house without an immediate neighbor. I'm okay with being alone, but I've always been a suburban girl. Does anyone else get a little spooked without her strong man around?

I hate to lay this anxiety on him when he makes his good night call; he needs support out there, not a clingy woman listening to the old house creak... :0)

Live in the country, get a dog!
by: lucy97

I'm in a similar situation. We also live in the country without neighbors nearby. My working hours also vary so I often come home late at night. My suggestion is to have a dog. They are not only good companions, but can be excellent protection. We have two. I think an intruder would think twice after seeing two large barking black dogs!
