To whom it may concern:
I am interested in acquiring my CDL-A license. In order to obtain training assistance it has been suggested that I acquire a pre hire letter. However, before you make any decisions about me, there are some facts that I want you to be aware of.
I had a conviction for selling cocaine in September 1996 in Ingham County, Michigan, and also a D.U.I. Charge in July 1997 in Clinton County Michigan. As a result of these charges I had my driving privileges suspended in 1996 until I was able to document some time of recovery from my addiction.
I earned these back in approximately 1999 or 2000 (to the best of my recollection). I have been clean from all mind and mood altering chemicals (including alcohol) since August 17, 1997. For the past ten years I have been employed as a Residential Technician in a Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center.
For the past two years I also, simultaneously served as a Substance Abuse Counselor providing counseling and Relapse Prevention Groups to clients at Reality Counseling.
On September 16, 2010 I got into an altercation with another person and ended up doing some damage to his vehicle.
On June 14, 2011 I pled guilty to a misdemeanor offense of destruction of property in Ingham County, Michigan. The consequence of this is that I voluntarily resigned from both substance abuse jobs because of a conflict of interest.
I have given up on a career that I truly enjoyed and was good at. This is heartbreaking, however I choose to move on and continue to face new challenges and have personal growth as a result.
One of the skills I have learned is the ability to persevere and will do so again, with your help.
My dedication to hard work and my desire to face new challenges propel me onward. If you decide to provide me with a pre-hire letter I can offer you the same commitment to excellence that I have shown to my previous employers.
I hope you will give me the chance to prove it.
Please feel free to contact any of the references that I have enclosed if it will assist you in your decision.
