I have CDL permit now but in a month or less, in a few weeks, I plan to get my license. I have class A CDl endorsements of tanker, hazmat, combination, bus, passenger, doubles and triples.

Currently I have a daily job 7-4 teaching. I plan to fully retire as a teacher in 2017 and go directly into driving OTR/locally full time. However, right now I seeking a part time job. I will drive evenings, weekends and the holidays that I'm available from teaching.

I am too excited to wait NEW

Thanks for the advice. I am an over achiever, as my sister puts it, because the same day I got my permit I called every trucker my husband and I know and then some. The next day I had a truck to drive. It is great. I am wanting to add motorcycle and that is why I am waiting to get my license. The safety class is at the end of August. Good luck to you too and God bless you.

A lot of companies of local won't hire unless of have 2 years or more experience of OTR truck driving so they know you can handle of drive local. Best thing to do is start looking soon as get your CDL A, because if wait to long with out driving, it's going to make it harder on you getting hired and you will then have to go through a refresher course from a driving school or through a trucking company like Western Express Inc ( www.driveforwestern.com ) in Nashville TN or PTL Inc in Murray KY ( www.trainwithptl.com )that offers a refresher course. I myself have been out little over a year of driving and going to be returning soon and I am thinking about going back to Western Express or of giving PTL a try..havent made up my mind yet. Both companies are ok.
