Is there scheduling flexibility? Possibility for extended time off?

Hi all,
Do some companies in this industry offer some scheduling flexibility? Could a driver take a month off in the summer? Maybe even 3-6 months off at a time? I'm thinking of being gung ho for six months at a time followed by periods of a retirement like lifestyle. Is it possible?

Yeah, that is something that I am sure will become more available. Being an owner op like Jimmy said is the easiest way to achieve this.

You may also find an owner operator who wants the same arrangement and is looking for a driver. I made a page for such arrangements to be made.

It's not popular yet but I bet one day it will be.

You might also check to see if there is a trucking staffing company in your area. You may be able to find temporary trucking jobs through them if your in the right location.

Good luck, and spread the word on this page so that more owner ops and part time seekers and come together.
