Felony Conviction for non-violent sex offence

by Travis Burris
(Jacksboro, TN)

My name is Travis and I was convicted of sexual battery which is a non-violent sex offense in Tennessee.I was charged with rape but found guilty of the lesser charge of sexual battery because the jury didn't believe my accusers story but they thought I was guilty of something.

I appealed the conviction twice but was denied both times because the judges thought the same way as the jury, so after four years of probation and forty five nights in jail(had a seven day a week work release which is unheard of)working a job that I used to love but now dislike I am ready to get on the road.

I got my CDL in 05 but never got to go over the road because of court dates and everything else that went with this conviction. During my probation I had to submit to a polygraph every six months which I did and passed every one with no problems, of course the polygraphs are not admissible in court but yet as a sex offender you are required to take them .

I say all of this to show I am an honest person I just got the raw end of the deal, me and my family have had to pay for it.

All I want now is a second chance to prove my self and make a better life for me and my family.
