driver seeking a job

by paul l baskerville
(columbia, sc/ us)

I'm looking for a job, to help me gain recent over the road experience. I've been out of a truck since 2007. I'm currently on probation for forgery. I've been on probation for one year, and will be on probation until I pay back the sum of $3200.00.

I love truck driving, I want to own a truck. I made mistakes in the past, but I want a chance to make it right. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful to them...

Driver Seeking a Job
by: Dennis Shipman

The character issues will not hinder you as much as the lack of recent experience will. Most companies require 2 years recent experience because of potential libiality issues. Their insurance carrier wants to know that the driver they are placing behind the wheel of an 80,000 pound vehicle has all weather experience. I agree wholeheartedly. I see these cats driving like maniacs on black ice, newly rained on road, and in snow. To say these practices are hazardous is an understatement. But to your question, you probably have to go with a sympathetic owner operator to get your experience back up-to-date. SC has a lot of small trucking companies. I started out there with Builders Transport before Schneider brought 'em out in '94 I believe. So, I would begin by looking through your local Craigslist, and working my way to the local pickle parks during the day of course least our suspicious fellow truckers think you were actually looking for something you are actually not and act accordingly... Best of luck. 10-4?
