Dennis Shipman

by Dennis Shipman experienced driver and trucking industry professional
(Newburgh, New York)

Trucking is the dominant freight mode in New York, as it is everywhere else. I have been in and out of the industry for over 25 years as a driver, owner operator, and company executive.

I have a valid New York State Class A CDL with no DUI/DWIs ever, no accidents, or major moving violations.

I need to renew my CDL because it expires next year, and my HAZ MAT has already expired. But I am seeking a situation where I can pay some overdue bills, and build up my savings relatively quickly (30 - 90 days), which have been decimated by a series of unfortunate events. Although I work full time, I have taken a leave of absent from my job to accomplish that goal. I want to run primarily along the East Coast (and have no problem making pick-ups and deliveries in the greater NYC Metropolitan region where I live) but will consider the lower 48 if the price is right.

I can drive anything - i.e., flatbed with or without tarping, tanker with or without pump, dump, reefer, or van. I have pier (Port Newark/Elizabeth, Wilimington, Baltimore and Norfolk), and rail experience (i.e., Croxton, Harlem River Yard, Land Bridge Terminal, Little Ferry Terminal, North Bergen Yard, South Kearny Terminal), and have a valid Sealink but never applied for a TWIC card. I do not have any hauling preference.

More importantly, I am professional, clean cut, and comply strictly with US DOT FMCSA 49 CFR. I am seeking an immediate situation, can provide a current NYS DMV abstract, references, and a long form physical. Ideally,

I want to get back into the business as an owner operator with my owm authority even though freight is slim, profit margins even slimmer, and there is a glut of inexperienced drivers clogging up the big road, driving down prices, and generally causing too many problems for us experienced truckers. I can drive for a week, month or indefinitely. But I hope the O/O picks up all out-of-pocket expenses. I cannot afford to pay tolls and wait to be reimbursed. If I sound like a driver you can use, please do not hesitate to contact me 24/7. Thanks.
